ATLANTIC BOWL TEAM GUIDELINES
Atlantic Bowl Team Guidelines:
The team guidelines are established to ensure a level playing field for those participating in the Atlantic Bowl.
Residency Criteria: Players must be residents and paid members of the provincial association they are representing. Exceptions to these criteria must be approved in writing by all participating provincial associations.
Travelling Roster: Each team’s traveling roster may include the following:
- 16-22 Players
- Up to 4 Coaches
- Up to 1 Equipment Manager (not mandatory)
- Up to 1 Athletic Therapist / Trainer (not mandatory)
- PSO General Manager (one position representing both U16 & U18 teams)
Player Roster: Teams must have 16-22 players registered to play in the competition. Under 16 – players must be born in 2008 or 2009 with a max. of four (4) players born in 2010. Under 18 – players must be born in 2006 or 2007 with a max. of four (4) players born in 2008. Listed dates of birth apply to the 2023 tournament.
Coach Roster: There is a limit to the number of coaches who can be on the bench or in the spotter’s booth during the game. Only 4 coaches can be involved in games and practices in any capacity – bench and spotters booth. The Coach Roster will be part of the Team Registration Form, below.
Team General Manager: Each team must appoint a Team General Manager. The Team General Manager will be in charge of all communication with the Host Organizing Committee (HOC) on behalf of their respective team, during the event. All information shall be relayed to a team only through the Team General Manager during the event. The team General Manager must attend GM Meeting information sessions as outlined in the applicable Atlantic Bowl schedule. The term ‘team’ refers to all teams representing the PSO.
Team Equipment Manager: Each team may appoint a Team Equipment Manager. It is recommended that each team bring an experienced equipment manager that will ensure that all precautions and safety protocols are followed with respect to all team equipment. The equipment manager will be allowed on the sidelines, but cannot participate in any other capacity.
Team Certified Athletic Therapist / Trainer: Each team may appoint a Team Certified Athletic Therapist / Trainer. It is recommended that each team bring an experienced AT/Trainer with a minimum of sport first aid/first responder, sport taping and CPR-C. Other certification that is an asset would be sport physiotherapists (BSc. PT with a sport diploma), certified athletic therapists (CAT), or individuals with a Kinesiology degree (BSc. Kin). AT/Trainer are allowed at all games and all practices. They are there to ensure that proper procedures are followed with respect to any therapy needs of the team. Team AT/Trainer will be allowed on the sidelines, but cannot participate in any other capacity.
The HOC will provide a Head AT/Trainer at mid-field for all games. They will not be at practices and are only accessible for on-field injuries during gameplay. They will not be made available to teams prior to the start of the games. Teams who do not bring an AT/Therapist assume all risk. Team AT/Trainer will meet with the Head AT/Trainer following registration so that they may immediately discuss any medical concerns or questions, and make any special arrangements for the week.
